iPhone 14 leak suggests we may have it all wrong about the price

As we near the reveal date for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro, more details about these devices are being leaked. We just received a huge batch of eye-catching iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro photos from yeux1122 (opens a new tab) at Naver’s Korean site.

A poster mentions a source in the US that is able to obtain a completed mass-production iPhone 14. But the most intriguing detail about this leak isn’t about the iPhone’s hardware. 14 but it’s price.

Eyes1122 claims that the iPhone 14’s price could change in a “completely unexpected direction”. This, if true can have interesting implications for other rumors. There have been rumors that the iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max would see a $100 price hike, but it could be a misunderstanding. Eyes1122 could also be referring to a price decrease for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Max. This would make entry-level models more affordable for those with smaller budgets.

The leaks reveal that the new Apple A16 chip’s performance is not as impressive as the benchmarks suggested, but it still performs better than the A15 chip last year. It is also said to be more resistant to heat than the previous model. This should help improve long-term performance. According to other leaks, this chip will only be available for iPhone 14 Pro models. Standard iPhone 14 models will get the same A15 chip that the iPhone 13 family.

Eyes1122 also claims that 30W fast wired charging is being offered by the source, which is one of the most recent rumors regarding the iPhone 14. While there won’t be any change to MagSafe wireless charging’s 15W maximum speed, a jump up to 30W would be a great idea. Most iPhone users will see a speed increase. Apple does not provide chargers for iPhones. If this rumor is true, you will have to search for a compatible charger.

MagSafe: The magnetic circle embedded in the back of the iPhone 14 appears to have increased its strength. A MagSafe accessory, possibly based on the Apple MagSafe battery pack, is being also introduced.

The new charging technology will go well with the increase in battery size that Eyes1122 has also noted. Based on battery leaks in the past, the iPhone 14 Pro Max may be smaller than the iPhone 13 Pro Max. The iPhone 13 Pro Max is already ranked high in our list of best phone battery lives, so Apple may be able to reduce its mAh without affecting its performance.

The leak also reveals that the base storage of the iPhone 14 series will not be 256GB as claimed by rumors. A prototype of an iPhone 14 with titanium bodies, similar to the expensive Apple Watch 7 models was made, but it was too costly and difficult to produce for Apple to mass-produce it. We’ll likely stick with the regular aluminum iPhones this year and the stainless steel Pro iPhones.

We can only glean the last information from this leak about the alleged iPhone 14 color options. Eyes1122 claims that they will be available in green, purple, and blue, black and white for the regular iPhone 14 models, and green, purple, and silver for the iPhone 14 Plus. Professionals can choose from graphite, gold, and silver.

We can’t guarantee the accuracy of any claims above, but they are consistent with other information. Although the price claim is most surprising, we don’t need to wait too long to see if it’s true. We’re just a week away from Apple’s September 7 event, and it seems obvious that Apple will announce its new iPhones there.
